Ever had a bad day? Read...

Okay, recently I've been under a lot of stress; what with the horrible job I have, my creative inspiration on vacation, my car breaking down, getting sick for weeks on end, and falling WAAAAYYY behind in school. (Now I know how ~That-Ru-Person feels.) And it's been sooo bad that it even takes ~SomebodysMoose forever to calm me down during one of my freak outs. Seriously, if he's having trouble, that's saying something. Sometimes you wonder why God or Karma or whatever-it-is-you-believe-in is doing up there? And why do you of all people have to suffer for it? Well I've noticed something:

Whenever you're going through a rough time in life, that higher being will send you something. It could be an important event, a well-needed friend, or a random person with words that just make you think...That's what happened to me the other day...

It was five minutes until close the other night at work, and when you work fast food, those are the longest five minutes of your life. The thrill and joy of knowing you're almost out could be shattered instantly if just one customer (simply making a drink order) comes through. Which would explain my frustration when we received a huge twenty-something dollar order two minutes away from freedom. I have to keep reassuring myself that I only have to deal with this until I finish college. Just keep thinking that!! DX Anyway, so as I bring the customers their order, I come to find out that it was an old acquaintance of mine from high school.

He was this big black guy from the football team and one of the few who was actually nice. So sweet, he would even stick up for me when the rest of the team was calling me ugly and weird and making me cry. My irritation quickly vanishes as I hand him his food, and he asks me how I'm doing. We converse for awhile and the topic of my comics comes up. The rest of the conversation went something like this:

Guy: Oh, you still doin' yo comics?
Me: Yah, I'm trying. I gotta friend who'll help me with a website so I can post them on the internet.
Guy: That's awesome! You should do something positive, k?
Me: ....*smirks*....yah....
Guy: Well, I see ya later! *leaves*

As I went back to continue my closing duties, his words kept repeating themselves over and over in my mind. "You should do Something Positive..." All my projects ran through my head. "Something Positive." Well, 90% of my work is not very positive, but I kept remembering a story ~Lunitaire told me.

Once upon a time, there was this guy whose life was going nowhere. I'm pretty sure he complained about it a lot too. Enough to get one of his friends to say something anyway. She told him that he should do something positive with his life...so he did. He started working on a webcomic, which he named -- guess what? -- Something Positive. (Kind of a smartass name, if you think about it, but it still amused me.) According to Luni, he gained a huge fan base who kept complaining that he wasn't getting the next post up fast enough. So, he made them a deal: If they could give him enough money to meet his yearly salary, then he'd quit his day job and do nothing but comics. The best part of this story is they actually did it, and if I'm not mistaken, he's one of the first to do that.

Personally, it's a very inspiring story. Which brings me back to what I was originally talking about! The point is, throughout this whole Month of Suck, that higher power sent me encouragement, and through someone who probably didn't realize they had.

So just remember, when life gets you down, do something positive. ;p
